The Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program aims to address the shortage of nurses and instructors to staff courses teaching nursing in Illinois. The program is intended to pay eligible loans to encourage Illinois nurse educators to continue their teaching careers in the state.

The 2027 fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) appropriation for the Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program is $400,000.

To receive this loan repayment, an applicant’s employer must write a letter verifying that the applicant has met the nursing instruction requirement. This letter must be on official letterhead from the school/employer and confirm that the applicant teaches as a nurse educator. The letter must also include the applicant’s dates of employment that fulfill the 12-month teaching requirement prior to the date of the application.
Applicants must submit this letter to ISAC when they apply for the program.
ISAC will send loan repayment funds to the lender of the applicants’ loan(s).

ISAC is accepting Nurse Educator Loan Repayment Program applications for the 2026 Award Year (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026).
