In partnership with the Family Action Network, ISAC is pleased to host Rebecca Winthrop, author of The Disengaged Teen: Helping Kids Learn Better, Feel Better, and Live Better, on February 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the ISAC Deerfield office.
In this timely conversation, Rebecca Winthrop will share key insights from her book on how schools and education systems can better support student engagement by fostering agency, purpose, and real-world connections. Winthrop is a senior fellow and director of the Center for Universal Education at the Brookings Institution and the author of several books on education. Her research focuses on global education, with particular attention to the skills young people need to thrive in work, life and civic engagement.
She currently leads the Brookings Global Task Force on AI in Education and co-leads the Family Engagement in Education Network. Previously, she served as chair of the U.N. secretary-general's Global Education First Initiative Technical Advisory Group, helping to shape an education vision centered on access, quality and global citizenship.
