How to applyProgram Details
This program provides student loan repayment assistance to encourage Illinois students to work and continue working as social workers in public school districts and municipalities. Schools can include Illinois public elementary or secondary schools. Applicants can also be employed as a social worker for an Illinois city, village, or incorporated town.

The 2027 fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) lump-sum appropriation for the School and Municipal Social Work Shortage Loan Repayment and Post-Master of Social Work School Social Work Professional Educator License Scholarship programs is $2,000,000.

To receive this loan repayment, applicants must have their employer fill out part of the application to verify they have met the work requirement.
ISAC will send loan repayment funds to the lender of the applicants’ loan(s).
