The Grant Program for Exonerees and Their Dependents pays tuition and mandatory fees at Illinois public colleges and community colleges. The grant can also be used to pay for a high school equivalency certificate.

The 2027 fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) appropriation for the Grant Program for Exonerees and their Dependents is $150,000.

2025-26
The Grant Program for Exonerees and Their Dependents application is now available.
A Certification of Enrollment for Payment is sent to the institution to be completed as part of the payment process.
Colleges must request payment for each term. ISAC then authorizes a voucher in the amount of the claim requested and submits it to the State Comptroller’s Office which issues payment to the institution.
